The oz-Teachernet was established in 1995 to provide teachers with an infrastructure for using the Internet to support professional development and curriculum design.

The oz-Teachernet projects, communities and extensive professional development programs were managed and developed by the RITE (Research in Information Technology Education) Group based at QUT, Brisbane, Australia. Management has now moved to a group simply known as oz-teachers, similarly based at QUT but with affiliates in other universities and schools. Times are changing and to remain a viable presence, we also need to change.
