ASISTM Projects

The oz-Teachernet has experience in supporting ASISTM projects. Our current projects are:

Project SSLIDE is a teacher professional development project currently being conducted as part of the Australian School Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics Project, funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training as part of the Boosting Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics Teaching (BISTMT) Programme. The project has been developed by staff of the Faculty of Education, Griffith University and Switched On Education.

Project SSLIDE involves students from urban, rural and tropical coastal communities sharing science learning using digital media and communication technologies. Seven Queensland State Primary Schools are involved:

  • Arcadia Valley (via Injune)
  • Dunkeld
  • Graceville
  • Muckadilla
  • Mungalalla
  • Murray River Upper
  • Warrigal Road

Student participants will be sharing their science learning by creating short films and sharing these films via this website with students from other project schools. We hope that by discussing the content of their films with children from other parts of Queensland, students as young as six will gain an increased understanding of a range of science topics.
